Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) was a Scottish novelist, essayist, poet and travel writer. He initially studied to be an engineer, then studied law. However, because of ill-health, he had to quit that career. Finally, he found his calling in writing. He is best known for works such as Treasure Island, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Kidnapped and A Child's Garden of Verses
