The poems we choose for the children to learn were those we considered beautiful, up-lifting, inspirational, and presenting a sense of honor and morality. In other words, poems that would fulfill St. Paul's admonition in Phil.4:8, "Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, ... meditate on these things." As a result, we did not study a multitude of poets, nor all the poems of any poet.
